President Bola Tinubu had a meeting with the Burundian Ambassador to discuss the recent floods affecting East African countries.
He emphasized the need for African leaders to collaborate on common challenges like climate change and environmental issues.
“We must work together to address environmental challenges…for the African people,” he said.
Offering condolences to those affected in Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania, and Somalia, he promised to follow up on oil and gas sector cooperation with Burundian President Evariste Ndayishimiye.
“As Africans, it’s important for us to work together…and develop our continent,” he said.
The Ambassador explained that Burundi has been severely impacted by torrential rains and rising Lake Tanganyika water levels since the beginning of the year.
He requested Nigeria’s support for relief efforts and invited Nigerian investment in Burundi’s solid minerals sector.
“We recognize Nigeria’s growth and development as a model…We need Nigerian investors in Burundi’s solid minerals sector…and opportunities in Nigeria’s oil sector,” he said.
