ADC Primary: Nigeria Deserves Better — Hayatu-Deen Declares Presidential Ambition

Ahead of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary scheduled for Monday, one of the aspirants, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, has explained why he is contesting for the presidency, insisting that Nigeria deserves better leadership.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Hayatu-Deen described himself as the most suitable candidate to fly the party’s flag in the 2027 presidential election.

According to him, Nigeria is currently facing severe economic and security challenges that require competent and visionary leadership.

“Our nation stands at a crossroads. Over the past three years, food and fuel prices have spiralled out of control, there are too few jobs, and our security crisis means Nigerians across the country live in fear,” he said.

“I am running because Nigeria deserves better. And because our party, the African Democratic Congress, is the only vehicle through which we can deliver it.”

Hayatu-Deen, who highlighted his background in business and public service, stated that he was not a career politician but a professional with decades of experience in institution building and job creation.

“I have spent forty years in business and public service, creating jobs, generating investment, and building institutions,” he said.

“Every business and organisation I have run, I have left in a better place than I found it. And I will do the same for our country.”

The presidential aspirant also claimed he was the only contender in the ADC race free from internal party disputes and longstanding political divisions.

“I am the only candidate in this race not hamstrung by the historic, divisive party political decisions that have weighed Nigerian politics down for two decades. I bring no factional debts and no record of personal feuds settled at the country’s expense,” he stated.

Hayatu-Deen said his campaign would focus on tackling unemployment, reducing the high cost of living, and addressing insecurity across the country.

“This campaign is about three issues that every Nigerian family is wrestling with: jobs, the cost of living and security. The ADC is the only platform focused on these issues. And I am committed to building it into an election-ready force capable of winning the 2027 elections at every level,” he added.

He further appealed to delegates and party members to support his aspiration during Monday’s presidential primary.

“If you believe that I would be the best flag bearer to ensure victory at the presidential election next year, please join my line on Monday,” Hayatu-Deen said.
