Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has announced that the 2027 presidential election will mark his final attempt at Nigeria’s top office.
Atiku, who has contested for the presidency since 1992, made this known during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme on Wednesday.
“The 2027 election will be my last outing,” he stated.
Responding to questions on why Nigerians should support his candidacy after multiple attempts and considering his age, the former Vice President argued that Nigeria is grappling with a leadership crisis.
According to him, he embodies both experience and vision, describing himself as a bridge between Nigeria’s past and its future.
Atiku also stressed the need for structured leadership training for young Nigerians, noting that the country’s progress depends on grooming a new generation of capable leaders.
