The newly appointed Edo State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mr. Adedotun Fasina, has paid a courtesy visit to his counterpart at the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Edo State Office as part of efforts to strengthen inter-agency collaboration.
The visit, which took place at the NHIA State Coordinator’s office in Benin City, saw Mr. Fasina accompanied by members of the NYSC management team. The delegation expressed appreciation for the existing partnership between both agencies, particularly in safeguarding the health and welfare of corps members deployed to Edo State.

Speaking during the visit, Mr. Fasina commended the NHIA for its commitment to addressing the healthcare needs of corps members serving in the state. He noted that, as a newly posted coordinator, it was important to formally engage with key stakeholders and reaffirm the high regard in which the NYSC holds the Authority.
He further appealed for strengthened collaboration, urging the NHIA to sustain and improve ongoing support mechanisms. The NYSC Coordinator also raised concerns about reports of some healthcare facilities not fully meeting expected standards in providing services to corps members, and requested the intervention of the NHIA leadership in addressing the issues.
In his response, the Edo State Coordinator of NHIA, Dr. Theodore Osas Ehannire (MSGI, DrFIHRMN, FIHIMN), warmly welcomed Mr. Fasina to Edo State, describing the state as hospitable and accommodating to all residents.
Dr. Ehannire appreciated the NYSC Coordinator for the visit and reaffirmed NHIA’s commitment to continued collaboration with the NYSC. He assured that the Authority would remain dedicated to prioritizing the healthcare needs of corps members, emphasizing that young graduates posted to the state should be treated with care and dignity.
According to him, ensuring quality healthcare services for corps members will enable them to have positive memories of Edo State while promoting national integration and intercultural harmony — key objectives of the NYSC scheme.
The visit concluded with the presentation of copies of the National Health Insurance Authority Operational Guidelines to Mr. Fasina by Dr. Ehannire.
