Arsenal F.C. Set Three Premier League Records After 2-1 Win Over Chelsea F.C.

Arsenal F.C. on Sunday established three Premier League records following their 2-1 victory against Chelsea F.C. at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners secured the home win courtesy of goals from defender William Saliba and summer signing Jurrien Timber, ensuring all three points against their London rivals.

According to football statistics platform Opta Sports (OptaJoe), the triumph marked the ninth time this Premier League season that Arsenal have scored a match-winning goal from a corner — the outright highest by any team in a single campaign.

In doing so, manager Mikel Arteta’s side surpassed Manchester United F.C.’s previous record of eight match-winning goals from corners set during the 2012-13 season.

Additionally, Arsenal’s tally of 16 goals from corners in the league this term equals the joint-most by any team in a single Premier League campaign. The North London club now shares the record with Oldham Athletic A.F.C. (1992-93), West Bromwich Albion F.C. (2016-17), and Arsenal’s own 2023-24 squad.

Furthermore, the victory over Chelsea means Arsenal have taken a 1-0 lead from a corner on nine occasions this season another joint record for a single campaign, matching Southampton F.C.’s achievement in the 1994-95 season.

Arsenal will look to continue their impressive form when they face Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. in their next Premier League fixture on Wednesday.
