Mladen Zizovic, head coach of Radnicki 1923, suffered a fatal heart attack just 22 minutes into his team’s match against Mladost on Sunday evening. He collapsed beside the pitch and was rushed to hospital after receiving immediate medical attention, but doctors later confirmed his death.
Players and staff were informed of his passing shortly after play resumed, leading to emotional scenes as many broke down and consoled one another. The referee subsequently abandoned the match.
Video footage shared online on Monday showed the distressing aftermath, with team members visibly shaken. The fixture had initially been suspended following the coach’s collapse before being briefly continued.
Zizovic, a Bosnian national, had only recently taken charge of Radnicki 1923, overseeing his third match since his appointment on October 23. He retired as a player in 2016 before turning to management.
