NORTHERN YOUTH GROUP REGRETS VOTING FOR TINUBU, THREATENS TO WORK AGAINST REELECTION

The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF), a prominent northern Nigeria socio-cultural group, has expressed regret over voting for President Bola Tinubu in 2023. According to the group’s president, Alhaji Shettima Yerima, the northern people are willing to work against Tinubu’s reelection in 2027 if he fails to address the current situation in the country.

Yerima attributed the dissatisfaction to the high expectations from the Tinubu-led government, emphasizing the need to address insecurity and economic hardship to win back the trust of the northern populace. He also criticized some state governors for their lack of creativity and initiative in generating revenue within their states, instead relying heavily on federal allocations.

The Arewa youth leader argued that decentralizing the federal structure would force states to become more productive and self-sufficient, ultimately benefiting the entire country. Yerima noted that the northern people are angry with the government, but still believe that Tinubu has another opportunity to turn things around within the next two years.

In a stern warning, Yerima stated that if Tinubu fails to positively impact the lives of the people, the northern youth group will gang up against him and support alternative candidates in the 2027 elections.
