The Delta State Police Command has arrested suspected armed robbers and recovered two locally made cut-to-size guns.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday in Asaba, the state capital.
The statement read, “On June 6, 2023, operatives of the Agbor Police Division, while on patrol along Baleke Street, Iregua Agbor, sighted a motorcycle with three passengers carrying a bag.
“On sighting the policemen, two of the passengers who later gave their names as Collins Anthony, 34, and Stephen Goddey, 30, both residents of Agbor, jumped off the motorcycle and ran away.
“The policemen went after them and arrested them. During a search, one locally-fabricated cut-to-size pistol and one live cartridge were recovered from them.”
Edafe said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects belong to a criminal syndicate terrorising the Agbor community and its environs.
In another development, the police spokesman said the command also arrested a suspect while his accomplices escaped.
