Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has praised the acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abdulrahman Mohammed, for reviving the party, which he described as previously being in an “Intensive Care Unit (ICU).”
Fayose said Mohammed has brought new life to the PDP and expressed optimism that the party will recover fully under his leadership.
His remarks followed the ruling of the Oyo State High Court, which granted the PDP permission to proceed with its planned national convention.
Earlier, on October 31, 2025, Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja had suspended the convention slated for Ibadan, citing noncompliance with due process. However, Justice A.L. Akintola of the Oyo State High Court later overruled that decision, allowing the convention to hold.
Reacting in a statement, Fayose criticised those who sought the initial injunction, saying:
“It appears desperation has clouded their judgment. Otherwise, they wouldn’t approach a State High Court for an order on a matter already decided by a Federal High Court.”
He continued:
“Thankfully, the PDP has been rescued from their grip and is now being cared for by the new Acting National Chairman, Mohammed Abdulrahman. I’m confident the party will survive under his leadership and begin the healing process from the damage inflicted by the so-called Ibadan elements.”
