The Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the interim forfeiture of a property located at No. 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island—identified as Proxy Lagos Night Club after it was allegedly used for the storage and distribution of illicit drugs.
Justice Musa Kakaki granted the order following an ex parte motion filed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) through its counsel, Mr. Buhari Abdulahi.
According to the NDLEA, the night club, owned by Mike Nwalie and operated with the help of Joachim Hillary, was used to store 169 cylinders (384.662 kg) of nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and 200 grams of cannabis sativa, both prohibited under Nigerian law.
The agency stated that it received credible intelligence in October 2025 about plans for a large-scale drug party at the venue. After days of surveillance, NDLEA operatives raided the club on October 26, recovering the controlled substances and arresting over 200 people, including the two respondents.
An affidavit filed by Deputy Commander of Narcotics, Nasiru Garba Bungudu, indicated that the second respondent, Hillary, had been involved in the sale and distribution of drugs at the club with the knowledge of the owner.
Mr. Abdulahi argued that the interim forfeiture was necessary to preserve the property while investigations continued, adding that no party would be unfairly affected by the order.
After reviewing the evidence, Justice Kakaki granted the NDLEA’s request and placed the property under the agency’s custody. The case was adjourned to January 28, 2026, for further hearing.
