In a decisive move to prevent a looming security threat, troops have arrested 25 suspected bandits and kidnappers in a coordinated joint operation along the Katsina-Ala–Takum Federal Highway.
The Benue State Police Command, in a statement released on Monday, confirmed the arrests, noting that the operation was launched following credible intelligence reports of an imminent attack on Tor-Donga town by armed herdsmen and bandits.
According to the statement, the suspects were apprehended during a sweeping operation designed to dismantle criminal networks and thwart planned assaults on local communities.
Security officials say the operation underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies to restore peace and stability in the region, which has seen a surge in violent attacks in recent months.
“Investigations are currently ongoing,” the police command stated. “The suspects will be charged to court as soon as preliminary inquiries are concluded.”
Residents of Tor-Donga and surrounding communities have welcomed the development, expressing hope that the arrests will lead to sustained security and deter further criminal activity in the area.
