Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, paid a visit to human rights activist and lawyer, Dele Farotimi, who is currently being held in prison custody. Farotimi was remanded in prison following allegations of character defamation levelled against him by lawyer Afe Babalola.
Obi, who met with Farotimi on Thursday, January 2, after a meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo, expressed his delight at reuniting with the activist. He commended Farotimi’s steadfast commitment to advocating for a better Nigeria, despite facing personal challenges ¹.
“Dele Farotimi exemplifies courage and dedication,” Obi said. “His bold stands for good governance and his passion for justice inspire many. I wish him a fruitful year as we continue to work toward the progress of our country.”
Obi’s visit is seen as a show of solidarity with Farotimi, who has been a vocal advocate for human rights and justice in Nigeria. The visit also highlights Obi’s commitment to standing up for what is right, even in the face of adversity.
