Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has taken decisive action by suspending the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Moses Ekuma, and the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Francis Ori.
The announcement, made on Monday, November 25, 2024, followed allegations of gross misconduct and neglect of duties. In a statement released by the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Jude Okpor, the suspensions underscore the governor’s commitment to accountability and effective governance.
While specific details were not disclosed, sources suggest the suspensions are tied to recent issues, including the alleged theft of government assets by health ministry officials and concerns over poor performance in the Housing and Urban Development Ministry.
Governor Nwifuru, during a surprise inspection of the health ministry on Saturday night, apprehended six suspects allegedly involved in diverting government materials. He has pledged to hold all culpable parties accountable.
This development reflects the administration’s resolve to uphold transparency and ensure the efficient delivery of services to Ebonyi residents.
