The Edo State House of Assembly has confirmed Hon. Samson Raphael Osagie as the Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General Designate.
However, the approval for Dr. Cyril Oshiomhole, the son of Senator Adams Oshiomhole, was postponed until the next plenary session scheduled for Monday.
This development follows the nomination by Edo State’s newly inaugurated 6th Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, who had put forward the names of the two commissioner candidates. Their nominations were read at the plenary by the House Clerk, Audu Yahaya Omogbai.
Speaker Rt. Hon. Blessing Sheriff Agbebaku highlighted Osagie’s substantial experience, noting his service in various roles, including twice in the State and National Assemblies. Agbebaku stated that Osagie’s swift confirmation is among the “privileges enjoyed by the former lawmaker” who will now assume the role of Attorney General.
The Assembly also approved a motion urging the state government and security agencies to take action against increasing incidents of kidnappings, cult activities, and related violence.
