The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has embarked on an ambitious job creation initiative, targeting 93,731 unskilled and unemployed individuals across Nigeria. Gombe State has been allocated 1,791 slots in this comprehensive program.
Under this initiative, the NDE will provide vocational, agricultural, and entrepreneurial skills training across 30 skill sets within the public works sector. Director-General Silas Agara, represented by State Coordinator Asmau Mawa, outlined the program’s goals, emphasizing its alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
– Eligibility: Applications are open to individuals aged 18-55.
– Application Window: October 21 – October 31, 2024.
– Training: Vocational, agricultural, and entrepreneurial skills training.
– Support: Start-up capital, equipment, and working tools for qualified participants.
– Access to Credit: Participants will gain access to credit institutions for business loans.
Agara noted that this initiative demonstrates the NDE’s commitment to addressing unemployment, a key priority area of the Renewed Hope Agenda ¹.
