Tragedy struck in Ukum Local Government Area on Sunday, July 21, 2024, as unknown gunmen suspected to be local bandits attacked and killed three people at Samco Hotel area, close to the NUT secretariat in Sankera. According to an eyewitness who narrowly escaped, the gunmen, dressed in military uniforms and numbering about nine, arrived on three Bajaj motorcycles and opened fire on a local joint, killing two adults and a six-year-old boy.
This latest attack adds to the growing list of banditry activities in Ukum Local Government, leaving residents in a state of mourning and fear. The community is calling for urgent action to be taken to address the incessant attacks and ensure the safety of lives and properties.
