HERDSMEN ATTACKS: UDENDE DONATE RELIEF MATERIALS TO UKUM COMMUNITIES

 

In continuation of his visits to victims of herdsmen attacks in Benue North East, Senator Emmanuel Memga Udende took message of hope to the people of Ityuluv, Azendeshi, Kundav, Ugbaam, and Borikyo Council Wards, in Ukum Local Government Area (LGA) Benue State.

The four council wards have come under unprovoked attacks from armed herdsmen, with dozens killed, thousands forced to leave their homes while property and farm produce worth billions destroyed.

In his first reaction on the matter, Senator Udende had move his colleague senators to passing landmark resolutions intended to ending the attacks as well as providing relief materials to victims.

However, to cushion the impact of the attacks on the displaced, before arrival of victims support from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Senator Udende, interfaces with the Internally Displaces Persons (IDPs) in Sankera, one of the IDPs host communities. He donated bags of rice, wrappers and cash to the victims, while commiserating with the IDPs.

The Chairman Senate committee on Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes is optimistic that the attacks will be checked and security restored in the volatile areas so that the people can go back home and continue with their normal lives, free from fear of attacks, killings and destruction of their property.

He reiterated his commitment to continue to speak for the people of Benue North East while doing everything possible to fulfil his campaign promises.

Meanwhile, the District Head of Borikyo, Chief Myaga Unongo, is deeply concerned that his subjects have been overrun by the marauding armed herdsmen, without provocation and are on the run with no hope of returning home even as the rains approaches.

Bishop Adugh Tyav and the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Ukum LGA, Hon Orban Jam, in collaborating the position of the District Head of Borikyo, commended Senator Udende for intervention.

Recall that Sen Udende was at Kwande yesterday, during which he donated both food and non-food items to those displaced due to attacks by armed herdsmen
