The Governor of Ebonyi state, Francis Nwifuru, has expressed dissatisfaction with the poor electricity supply to the state by the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), calling for better service delivery to the people.
Nwifuru made the call while addressing journalists at the government house in Abakaliki, the state capital. He stressed the need for EEDC to address issues of cable theft and overbilling, citing instances where residents received bills for electricity they did not consume.
The governor called on the electricity distribution company to improve its services to the state and ensure that citizens get value for their electricity bills.
In his response to the governor’s remarks, the Managing Director and CEO of EEDC, Praveen Chorghede, commended the governor for his support and pledged to improve the power sector in Ebonyi.
Chorghede disclosed that the company plans to invest around N247bn in the state over the next three years to deliver adequate electricity to customers in the area.
He added that EEDC is committed to providing better service delivery to the people of Ebonyi state, saying that the company is already taking steps to address the issues highlighted by the governor.
The people of Ebonyi state have expressed their satisfaction with the governor’s efforts to improve electricity supply in the state, and they are hopeful that EEDC will improve its services to the state and deliver uninterrupted power supply to them.
