The winners of the 2026 FIFA World Cup will not only lift football’s most prestigious trophy but will also take home a record-breaking financial reward.
Spain and Argentina are set to face off in Sunday’s World Cup final, with both teams chasing global glory. Alongside the title and international prestige, the victorious nation will earn a massive cash prize from FIFA.
The 2026 champions will receive $50 million (£37 million) in prize money, while the runners-up will collect $28.8 million (£21.4 million). The winner’s reward is $8 million higher than the $42 million paid to Argentina after lifting the trophy at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
FIFA has also increased the tournament’s overall prize fund to a record $655 million (£490 million), marking a 50 percent rise compared to the previous edition.
All 48 nations that qualified for the 2026 World Cup are guaranteed financial compensation regardless of how far they progressed. Each participating country receives at least $10.5 millionnsimply for reaching the tournament, ensuring every team benefits from the expanded competition.
