A 2027 Benue State governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Terwase Orbunde, has congratulated the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, over the return tickets granted to serving APC National Assembly members from the state.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Iorwuese Jester Shija, Orbunde described Akume, a founding member and national leader of the APC, as instrumental in ensuring that deserving APC senators and members of the House of Representatives from Benue secured tickets for the 2027 general elections.
Reacting to the decision of the APC National Working Committee to issue nomination forms to the affected lawmakers for submission to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Orbunde said the move had put an end to uncertainty over the party’s National Assembly tickets in the state.
The former Chief of Staff to the Benue State Governor said the development had brought stability to the APC in Benue and strengthened the party’s chances ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Orbunde, however, appealed to Senator Akume to prevail on the APC National Working Committee to extend the same consideration to deserving APC members of the Benue State House of Assembly.
He also urged the party leadership to address petitions challenging the outcome of the May 2026 APC Benue State governorship primary election, which he described as flawed.
The governorship aspirant further expressed appreciation to APC members in Benue for their continued support for Senator Akume, while commending party faithful for their confidence in his leadership, patience, and commitment to the party’s internal conflict resolution process.
