IGP Crack Team Arrests Suspect Behind Fake Tinubu Voice Scam in Benin — Presidency

The Presidency has confirmed the arrest of a suspected fraudster, Ifechukwu Dennis, by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) crack team over an alleged fake voice scam involving President Bola Tinubu.

 

According to the Presidency, the suspect was apprehended in Benin City, Edo State, after reportedly creating and circulating a fake audio voice which he allegedly used to deceive unsuspecting victims by impersonating President Tinubu.

 

In a statement confirming the development, the Presidency disclosed that Dennis allegedly passed off the manipulated voice recording as that of the President in a bid to defraud gullible individuals.

 

“The IGP crack team has arrested Ifechukwu Dennis who originated the fake voice that he passed on to his gullible targets as President Tinubu’s voice. Dennis was arrested in Benin. The police will issue an official statement,” the Presidency stated.

 

Authorities are yet to release full details regarding the scale of the alleged scam, the number of victims involved, or the specific methods used by the suspect.

 

The Nigeria Police Force is expected to issue an official statement providing further clarification on the arrest and ongoing investigation.
