Akume Rallies Support for Tinubu’s Re-Election Ahead of APC Presidential Primaries

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, has called on stakeholders, party faithful and Nigerians to support the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, citing the administration’s commitment to national development and economic reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Akume made the appeal on Saturday while addressing large crowds of APC delegates, stakeholders and supporters at the venues of the APC presidential primaries in Wanune, Makurdi South and Makurdi Central in Benue State.

The SGF urged party members to give overwhelming support to President Tinubu ahead of the forthcoming election, stressing that Nigerians should not be misled by critics of the administration.

According to him, the achievements recorded by the Tinubu administration within a short period reflect the President’s determination to reposition Nigeria for sustainable growth and long-term prosperity.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has shown courage and commitment in implementing policies and reforms aimed at building a stronger and more resilient nation. This is a period that requires support, cooperation and unity of purpose from all stakeholders,” Akume stated.

Speaking on educational reforms, the former Benue State governor highlighted the establishment of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, NELFUND, describing it as a landmark initiative and one of the first of its kind in Africa.

He said the programme demonstrates the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring that every Nigerian student has access to quality education and opportunities for advancement.

Also speaking at Makurdi Central, Senator Jack Tilley-Gyado said the meeting was aimed at mobilising support for President Tinubu at the APC presidential primaries to enable him continue with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Tilley-Gyado assured Akume and the President of the unwavering support of party members and stakeholders in the state.

The statement was signed by Chris Ugwuegbulam, Head of Information and Public Relations Department, on May 23, 2026.
