
Tragedy struck in Makurdi following reports of the death of a 17-year-old boy identified as Sesugh, allegedly linked to an incident involving operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Benue State Zonal Command.
According to reports that emerged on Saturday, the teenager and a friend were said to have escaped from EFCC custody after a raid conducted in their area, during which several persons were reportedly arrested and detained at the Commission’s facility.
Sources alleged that while the two boys were in hiding, EFCC operatives traced them to a settlement known as Gberindyer in Makurdi. Eyewitnesses claimed that upon sighting the operatives, Sesugh allegedly attempted to flee and was shot in the leg before falling.

Residents further alleged that the teenager was subsequently shot again in the chest. Community members who reportedly witnessed the incident were said to have confronted the operatives and insisted that they must not leave the scene without taking responsibility for the body.
A humanitarian, Ukan Kurugh, stated that sources informed him that the operatives eventually took away the body. He added that, as of the time of filing this report, the family had allegedly not been granted access to see their son.

Kurugh further disclosed that he was informed the deceased was taken to the Police State Command Clinic.
The incident has generated concern and reactions among residents, with many calling for transparency and accountability over the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death.
As of the time of this report, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had not issued an official statement regarding the allegations.
The general public now awaits clarification from the EFCC Zonal Command in Makurdi concerning the incident.
