Davido Raises Alarm Over Alleged Plot to Deregister Accord Party Ahead of Osun Governorship Election

Famous Nigerian Afrobeat musician, David Adeleke, has raised concerns over an alleged plot to deregister the Accord Party ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State.

The singer made the allegation in a post on X on Thursday, questioning the rationale behind any move to remove the party from the electoral process.

Reacting strongly, Davido called for a free and fair electoral contest, insisting that political competition should be determined at the polls rather than through administrative actions.

He wrote: “Deregister Accord party for what? Cowards let’s go to the field.”

The development comes about 48 hours after the singer accused the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and immediate past Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, of being linked to alleged political manoeuvres ahead of the election.

According to Nova News, the current Governor of Osun State and Davido’s uncle, Ademola Adeleke, resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following internal leadership crises and legal disputes within the party, before joining the Accord Party to pursue his re-election bid.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peoples Democratic Party, has been facing internal challenges in recent months, leading to high-profile defections and realignments in the state’s political landscape.

The Osun State governorship election is scheduled to hold on August 15, 2026, with political tensions already rising as parties intensify preparations for the contest.
