In a significant boost to his political ambition, prominent leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwande and Ushongo Local Government Areas have thrown their weight behind the 2027 Benue State governorship aspiration of Honorable Terwase Orbunde.
The endorsement came from respected party stalwarts, Jacob Tilley Gyado and Iyorwuese Hagher, who separately offered their blessings when Orbunde presented his nomination forms ahead of the race.
Speaking on behalf of party leaders in Kwande Intermediate Area, APC Zone A Chairman, Vincent Uji, praised Orbunde’s consistency and inclusive leadership style. At a prayer session held at his North Bank residence in Makurdi on Monday, May 4, he commended the former Chief of Staff for maintaining strong ties with grassroots stakeholders over the years.
Uji offered prayers for Orbunde’s success, expressing optimism that his long-standing commitment to party unity and development would be rewarded at the polls.
At a separate meeting held at his residence in Makurdi, Senator Gyado highlighted Orbunde’s track record in political mobilization and campaign strategy. He noted that Orbunde played pivotal roles in several major political victories, including the governorship campaigns of former Benue leaders and the Senate Presidency bid of Anyim Pius Anyim.
Gyado expressed confidence in Orbunde’s capacity, praying that his years of dedication to party building and electoral success would culminate in victory in 2027.
Also lending his voice, Ambassador Hagher described Orbunde as a seasoned leader equipped with the experience and vision needed to confront the challenges facing Benue State. He emphasized Orbunde’s exposure, leadership competence, and strong moral grounding as critical assets for effective governance.
In his response, Honorable Orbunde expressed gratitude for the endorsements and prayers, assuring the leaders of his readiness to serve with integrity and competence. He pledged to draw from his extensive experience as a former local government chairman, national legislator, and member of the Benue State Executive and Security Councils to deliver impactful leadership if elected.
The wave of endorsements is seen as a major step in consolidating support for Orbunde’s ambition, signaling growing momentum within APC ranks ahead of the 2027 governorship race in Benue State.
