President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that he is not afraid of opposition forces, dismissing them as “noise-makers” who lack respect for the rule of law.
Speaking at the State House in Abuja during a meeting with leaders of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors from across the 36 states, Tinubu assured supporters of his resolve to confront the nation’s challenges rather than shy away from them.
The delegation was led by Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, who also serves as Director-General of the group.
“They want to scare me off? That’s not possible. I’ve walked this road before,” Tinubu said, reaffirming his determination. “I won’t run away from the responsibility of leading this country.”
Reflecting on his journey to power, the President described both the party primaries and the 2023 general election as tough but formative experiences that have prepared him for governance.
He stressed the importance of upholding democratic values, including respect for the judiciary and adherence to court rulings, regardless of personal or political interests. Tinubu also called for unity and a shared national vision aimed at tackling poverty and strengthening democracy.
Urging members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to stay united, he warned against forces he claimed are resistant to national progress.
The President also took a swipe at former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, questioning the outcomes of privatisation efforts carried out during his tenure as Chairman of the National Council on Privatisation, particularly referencing the state of the Ajaokuta Steel Company.
Tinubu concluded by reiterating his commitment to delivering on his promises to Nigerians and revealed that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors have been mobilised to support the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
