The All Progressives Congress (APC) has praised its Cross River State chapter for successfully conducting ward and local government congresses across the state’s 196 political wards, describing the exercise as peaceful, credible and transparent.
The commendation was delivered in Calabar on Saturday by Samuel Yanap, Chairman of the APC Ward and Local Government Congresses Committee in Cross River State. He lauded party leaders and members for their orderly conduct and unity throughout the process.
According to Yanap, the congresses, which were monitored under the directive of the party’s national leadership, met constitutional and guideline requirements. He noted that the affirmation method was largely adopted to retain incumbent executives due to their performance, except in a few areas where zoning and other considerations applied.
He said the committee engaged stakeholders and the State Executive Committee upon arrival and monitored activities across various wards, expressing satisfaction with the overall outcome. Yanap added that the positive report would be presented to the party’s national leadership in Abuja.
Describing the state chapter as united, he urged members to remain law-abiding and committed to strengthening the party’s grassroots structure under the leadership of Governor Bassey Otu.
State APC Chairman Ntufam Ekum Ojogu thanked the national panel for ensuring transparency and peace during the exercise across the three senatorial districts.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Appeal Committee, Honourable Prince Ademola Adetokunbo, said the committee was established to guarantee fair hearing and due process in line with party guidelines. He commended Governor Bassey Edet Otu for promoting unity and sustaining a stable political atmosphere in the state.
Chairman of the Screening Appeal Committee, Dr Ike Ukwe, stated that although the committee was prepared to address grievances, he expected a smooth process, assuring members of equal opportunity and fairness.
