2027: Makinde Set to Join ADC as Atiku’s Running Mate, Fayose Alleges

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has disclosed details of a recent meeting involving former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, held in Minna, Niger State.

Fayose claimed that Governor Makinde has agreed to align with a coalition of opposition figures ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to DAILY POST, the meeting took place behind closed doors on Tuesday and included former military president, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida.

While Atiku told journalists after the meeting that his presidential ambition was not discussed, Fayose, in a statement posted on his official X handle on Wednesday, insisted that deliberations focused on the 2027 presidential race.

He further alleged that the location of the meeting was deliberately selected to maintain secrecy.

Fayose claimed that Makinde agreed to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on the condition that he would secure the party’s vice-presidential ticket as Atiku’s running mate.

He also alleged that the Oyo State governor pledged to provide N10 billion, to be released in two installments, as an initial contribution toward what he described as the “proper take-off of the ADC,” with additional financial support to follow once the campaign commences.
