The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Saturday lashed out at politicians he accused of supporting acts of betrayal against him, warning that such individuals would eventually face the same fate.
Wike spoke in Port Harcourt while commissioning the Rivers State chapter of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors’ office, where he delivered a fiery address directed at senators, members of the House of Representatives, governors and other political office holders whom he accused of backing disloyalty.
The minister warned that lawmakers and political leaders who align themselves with betrayal would, in turn, be betrayed and ultimately destroyed by their own actions.
According to Wike, politicians who encourage betrayal would have no voice when it eventually turns against them, stressing that such actions carry grave consequences.
“Whether you are a senator, House of Reps member, minister or governor, and you support betrayals, people will continue to betray you in life. Betrayal is your portion,” Wike said.
“The day you will be betrayed, you will not have mouth to say anything. There you will collapse and go and they will announce that so so person has died,” he added.
Wike maintained that betrayal operates like a seed, insisting that those who plant it would inevitably reap its harvest.
“That is the seed you have planted and whatever you plant, you will reap. Since you are planting betrayal, betrayal will follow you everywhere,” he stated.
He further warned governors serving second terms or those with ambitions to install successors, cautioning that supporting betrayal would jeopardise their political survival.
“Every governor who is doing the second tenure, governor who has ambition to put a successor and is supporting betrayal, you will never survive it,” Wike declared.
The remarks come amid ongoing political tensions within Rivers State and the wider political landscape, as alliances and loyalties continue to shift ahead of future elections.
