ADC ‘terrified’ by APC’s massive registration drive, says Morka

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed criticisms from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over its ongoing nationwide membership registration, describing them as fear-driven and rooted in jealousy.

In a statement, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka said the opposition party’s reactions stem from intimidation by the ruling party’s large influx of new members following the launch of its digital registration platform. He noted that the surge has unsettled opposition parties, particularly the ADC, which alleged that civil servants were being coerced to register.

Morka rejected the allegations, calling them false and a deliberate attempt to undermine what he described as a groundbreaking digital reform of the APC’s membership system. He accused the ADC of spreading misinformation, including circulating a fabricated APC membership slip allegedly linked to a terrorist.

According to Morka, the strong turnout is a result of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said is already producing visible outcomes that are motivating Nigerians to voluntarily join the party. He added that the overwhelming response prompted the APC to extend the registration deadline from January 31 to February 8, 2026.

He further argued that the ADC’s criticisms reflect unease over the APC’s growing appeal but insisted this does not excuse what he termed the peddling of falsehoods. While opposition parties, he said, remain consumed by misinformation, the APC is focused on deepening reforms and setting a new benchmark for digital democracy in Africa.

Speaking alongside APC National Secretary Ajibola Bashiru, Morka said the e-registration exercise represents a historic achievement, underscoring the party’s commitment to transparency, compliance, and global best practices. He added that the process has been so successful that the APC is already ahead of INEC in compiling accurate membership data.
