The Federal Government has sent a strong message of encouragement to the Super Eagles ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semifinal encounter against host nation Morocco scheduled for Wednesday.
Nigeria will face Morocco in a high-stakes clash with a place in the final of the continental tournament on the line.
The message, delivered on behalf of the Nigerian government by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, urged the players to give their all from the opening whistle to the final moment of the match.
In the statement, the minister assured the team of the nation’s full support, noting that their performances so far had inspired millions of Nigerians.
“As you prepare to face Morocco in the AFCON semifinals, I want you to know that the whole of Nigeria stands firmly with you,” the message read.
Idris praised the Super Eagles for their discipline, courage, and belief throughout the tournament, describing the team as one of Africa’s most respected sides. He reminded the players of Nigeria’s rich football history and past AFCON triumphs, stressing that those successes were built on teamwork, confidence, and an unyielding fighting spirit.
“You have been here before. You know what it takes to win at this level. From past AFCON triumphs to victories against tough opponents, you have always carried Nigeria’s flag with pride,” he said.
The minister further encouraged the players to remain united and focused, reminding them that they carry the hopes and prayers of millions of Nigerians.
“As you step onto the pitch, remember that you are not alone. You carry the hopes of millions of Nigerians. They believe in you and draw strength from your performances,” the message added.
Urging the team to play with confidence and hunger, Idris called on the players to fight for every ball and seize every opportunity.
“Stay focused, trust one another, and give your best from the first whistle to the last. Win every ball and fight for every chance. Never doubt what you can achieve together,” he stated.
The message concluded with a patriotic charge for the Super Eagles to write another proud chapter in Nigeria’s football history.
