The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has officially notified the general public that its Passport Digital Platform will undergo routine system maintenance, leading to temporary service disruptions for users nationwide.
The maintenance window is scheduled to run from 12:00 a.m. on Friday, December 12, to 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 14, 2025 (GMT).
Purpose of the Maintenance
According to a public notice signed by the Service Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi, and shared via the NIS official X handle, the exercise is a critical step toward enhancing system performance and optimizing the overall user experience.
“During this period, users will experience temporary service interruptions, slow response times, or limited access to selected NIS Passport Services,” the notice stated.
The NIS emphasized that the maintenance is essential for sustaining a secure and efficient digital passport ecosystem. The agency’s technical teams are reportedly working “round the clock” to ensure that full services are restored within the stipulated timeframe.
Support and Alternative Channels
The Service appealed for public patience and understanding. For users requiring urgent assistance or seeking to log inquiries during the maintenance period, the NIS provided the following contact options:
* Email: support@immigration.gov.ng
* Social Media: Official NIS handles across platforms.
This maintenance exercise follows a related development earlier on Tuesday, where the NIS activated temporary complaint-response channels following the takedown of its original support accounts.
Applicants facing difficulties with passport and visa processes are encouraged to utilize the temporary X handles: @InquireAtNaija, @nigimmigration, and @InquireAtNaija_, as well as the agency’s Instagram page, to ensure uninterrupted engagement.
