Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, has ruled out the prospect of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar ever becoming Nigeria’s president.
Speaking to journalists at his Iga Iduganran Palace during celebrations marking his 22nd year on the throne, Akiolu said destiny does not favour Atiku, who has been pursuing the presidency since 1992. He described President Bola Tinubu’s rise as divinely guided and urged Nigerians to back him in realising his vision for the nation.
“The future belongs to God, but let me be clear: Atiku Abubakar will never be president of Nigeria. Tinubu is compassionate and visionary. Who would have imagined he’d reach this position? He presented his certificate to me first after his victory. Lagosians and Nigerians should support him to fulfil God’s purpose for the country,” the monarch said.
