A prominent figure in Nigeria’s opposition coalition and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has openly challenged anyone with evidence linking him to electoral violence or malpractice to come forward and make it public.
According to Hobnob News, Obi issued the challenge while reaffirming his commitment to peaceful and credible elections, stating that he has maintained a clean and principled record throughout his political career.
Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the former Anambra State governor wrote:
“Throughout my political journey, I have never been involved in thuggery, the snatching of ballot boxes, or any form of electoral malpractice. I challenge anyone: conduct your investigations. You will find no stains of rigging or violence associated with my name.”
Obi further stressed that his political engagements have been rooted in fairness and respect for democratic values.
“Ask those who have contested against me, none were ever denied their rights, framed, or falsely accused,” he added.
The statement comes amid growing scrutiny of political figures ahead of the next electoral cycle, with Obi using the opportunity to distance himself from any association with electoral misconduct.
