Bloody Clash Erupts in Aboh Community Over Chieftaincy Title, One Dead, Three Injured

Tension gripped the Aboh community in Delta State on Sunday as a bloody clash broke out over the conferment of a chieftaincy title on an indigene of the community. The clash resulted in the death of one person and left three others injured.

According to a community source, the incident occurred when opposing factions clashed over the chieftaincy title conferment. The source revealed that the hunters escorting the newly titled chief retaliated when they were attacked, leading to the shooting and subsequent death of one person.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, stating that the deceased died in a hospital where he was taken for treatment. Edafe attributed the clash to two factions within the community, adding that the newly titled chief had been attacked while dancing as part of the protocol for the title conferment.

In response to the violence, the Chairman of Ndokwa East Local Government Area, Vincent Osilonya, imposed a curfew in Aboh from 7 pm to 6 am. Osilonya urged the community members to sheath their swords and avoid taking the law into their own hands while efforts are made to resolve the issue.
