Edo State is not lacking in pressing developmental challenges. Our roads are deteriorating, our healthcare system needs urgent attention, our schools require investment, unemployment remains a serious concern, and many communities are still waiting for the basic dividends of democracy.
Yet, Governor Monday Okpebholo appears to be contemplating another ambitious venture called ‘Edo Air’
One cannot help but ask: Is this really what Edo people need at this critical moment?
Government is not about embarking on projects for prestige, political headlines or the creation of questionable financial opportunities. It is about identifying priorities, deploying scarce public resources responsibly and delivering measurable benefits to the people.
If the existing transportation business ventures and structures have not demonstrated sustainable success, what gives this administration the confidence that running an airline will be a different story?
You have not successfully managed a transport company, yet you want to venture into running an airline.
An airline is not a political trophy. It is a capital-intensive business requiring professional expertise, sound financial planning, strict regulatory compliance, operational discipline and long-term sustainability.
Edo people deserve answers:
– What is the economic justification for Edo Air?
– What is the total financial commitment of the state government?
– Where will the funding come from?
– What are the projected returns on investment?
– What independent feasibility studies have been conducted?
– What safeguards will prevent the project from becoming another avenue for financial recklessness and waste?
We cannot afford to mortgage the future of Edo State on projects driven by prestige rather than genuine economic necessity.
Governor Okpebholo, Edo State is not a laboratory for expensive experiments.
Let us fix our roads, strengthen our hospitals, improve our schools, create employment and address the fundamental needs of our people before venturing into businesses that may become additional financial burdens on the state.
Leadership is not measured by the number of ambitious projects announced, but by the quality of lives improved through responsible governance.
Edo needs development, not political showmanship. Edo needs accountability, not another questionable adventure with public funds.
The people deserve better.
Edo State must be great again.
God bless Edo State.
