In a heartwarming gesture, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has approved a N100,000 Christmas bonus for civil servants, public servants, and pensioners in the state. This move aims to ensure that both workers and senior citizens enjoy a fulfilling Christmas celebration. The approval was granted on Monday and announced by the State’s Head of Service, George Nwaeke, on Tuesday.
Notably, this is the second year in a row that Fubara’s administration has approved a N100,000 bonus for civil servants, surpassing the national minimum wage. What’s more, this is the first time pensioners will benefit from the festive bonus, a significant inclusion in the governor’s “Rivers First” mantra.
Governor Fubara also took the opportunity to issue a Christmas message, calling on the people of Rivers State to embrace peace, unity, and love during the festive season and beyond. He emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence, particularly in tackling the country’s ongoing economic and security challenges. The governor reassured residents that the coming year holds promise of new opportunities and lasting fulfillment.
This generous move is expected to bring some much-needed cheer to the lives of civil servants and pensioners in Rivers State, and is a testament to Governor Fubara’s commitment to the well-being of his constituents.
