A devastating road accident involving a Borno State University staff bus has resulted in the deaths of at least three people, with 30 others severely injured. The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday when a truck collided with the side of the bus in the Lake Chad region.
According to a source familiar with the counter-insurgency operations in the area, the victims were rushed to the Umaru Shehu Specialist Hospital in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, where they are receiving medical attention. Efforts are ongoing to provide care for the injured, while the bodies of the deceased have been taken to their parents for burial.
The university authorities and the state police command have yet to officially react to the incident. This tragic event is part of a recent spate of fatal accidents in the region. Just last November, 10 people lost their lives in a road accident in Yanfari village, Taura LGA, Jigawa State, when a Toyota Hummer bus collided with a parked trailer. One person was injured in that crash.
