Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is set to preside over the 18th annual Lagos State Town Hall Meeting on Security, a flagship summit designed to address critical issues in the sector. The event, themed “Data & Technology Driven Security: The Way Forward,” is scheduled to take place on December 18, 2024, at Lagos House, Ikeja.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, described the town hall as a major platform for key stakeholders to deliberate on the future of security in the state.
A highlight of the event will be the presentation of new patrol vehicles and advanced equipment to security operatives, a move aimed at strengthening operational capacity. The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) Executive Secretary, Dr. Rasaq Balogun, will also present a detailed report on the Trust Fund’s activities. Security chiefs and other prominent figures in the sector are expected to share insights on enhancing safety across the state.
Established in 2007 to tackle violent crimes, including bank robberies, the LSSTF has been instrumental in transforming security operations in Lagos. Omotoso highlighted the fund’s success, noting that Lagos has not recorded a single bank robbery incident in the last five years—a testament to the state’s innovative approach to crime prevention.
This year’s theme underscores the increasing reliance on data and technology to enhance security frameworks. Stakeholders will explore cutting-edge strategies to combat emerging threats and ensure Lagos remains a safe and thriving hub for residents and businesses alike.
