The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has extended heartfelt congratulations to Senate President Godswill Akpabio on the occasion of his 62nd birthday, celebrated on Monday, December 9, 2024.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Krishi, Speaker Abbas lauded Senator Akpabio as a distinguished statesman and an accomplished leader whose political and legislative career has left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s governance landscape.
Describing Akpabio as a unique figure in Nigerian politics, Abbas noted, “Senator Akpabio is one of the rare Nigerians who have reached the pinnacle of both executive and legislative arms of government at state and federal levels.”
Highlighting Akpabio’s illustrious journey, the Speaker recalled his tenure as the “Uncommon Governor” of Akwa Ibom State, his service as a Minority Leader in the Senate, his role as the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, and his rise to become President of the Senate upon his return to the legislative chamber.
Abbas further emphasized the harmonious relationship between the House and the Senate under their leadership, noting their shared commitment to implementing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for the benefit of Nigerians.
“Since our inauguration in June last year, the collaborative synergy between the House and the Senate has been pivotal in advancing the nation’s development. I look forward to continued partnership for the progress of our people,” Abbas remarked.
