Acting Army Chief Olufemi Oluyede Pledges Improved Welfare for Troops and Enhanced National Security

Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, Acting Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has reaffirmed his commitment to prioritizing the welfare of Nigerian Army troops and ensuring the protection of Nigeria and its citizens. He made this promise during the official handover ceremony of the Infantry Corps to Major General Abdulkalifa Ibrahim at the Headquarters Infantry Corps in Jaji, Kaduna State.

Oluyede expressed confidence in his successor, describing him as a competent senior Infantry Officer who will sustain the Corps’ progress. He urged officers and soldiers to cooperate with and support Ibrahim to ensure his success.

The Acting COAS also thanked the Nigerian Army personnel for their support during the late COAS Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja’s internment, praying for eternal rest for the deceased and fortitude for his family. Oluyede charged the troops to move forward from the loss, focus on their duties, and decisively tackle insecurity threats in the country.

As the 56th Commander Infantry Corps, Oluyede has demonstrated leadership expertise, particularly in counter-insurgency operations ¹. His vision for the Nigerian Army includes enhanced training, capacity building, and troop welfare. With his pragmatic leadership style, Oluyede aims to strengthen the Army’s response to modern security challenges.
