BREAKING: Senator Monday Okpebholo Sworn in as Edo State Governor, Pledges Commitment to Development

Senator Monday Okpebholo was officially sworn in as the new governor of Edo State during a grand ceremony held at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, taking over from Godwin Obaseki after his completion of two terms.

Okpebholo’s deputy, Idahosa, also took the oath of office.

Edo State Chief Justice Daniel Okungbowa conducted the proceedings, administering the oaths as both leaders pledged to uphold the Nigerian constitution and prioritize the welfare of the state’s citizens.

The event was graced by several high-profile attendees, including Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima and Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, Chairman of the Governors’ Forum. Among the distinguished guests was Philip Shaibu, the reinstated deputy governor of Edo, along with governors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the nation.

Governor Okpebholo expressed sincere gratitude for the trust placed in him by the people, pledging to drive Edo’s development and ensure transparent governance.

He highlighted his commitment to working with all levels of government to address the state’s pressing needs.

In his inaugural speech, Okpebholo outlined his vision focused on economic recovery, infrastructure advancements, and enhanced social services for Edo’s citizens.

This inauguration marks the start of a new administration, with Governor Okpebholo and Deputy Governor Idahosa ready to take on the challenges ahead and implement their agenda for progress and prosperity in Edo State.
