In a show of solidarity, 36 state governors under the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) have acknowledged the economic struggles facing Nigerians, admitting that the people are hungry. Rising from a meeting in Abuja that lasted from Wednesday night to Thursday, the governors expressed sympathy with Nigerians while appreciating President Bola Tinubu’s reforms.
The meeting, attended by prominent governors such as Abdulrahman Abdulrazak (Kwara), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), and Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), aimed to address the country’s economic challenges and insecurity. Mele Kolo Kyari, Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, briefed the governors on the total subsidy removal, challenges facing the corporation, and plans to alleviate the suffering caused by increased pump prices.
Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State stated that the governors pray for swift relief, allowing them to leverage the reforms’ benefits and achieve overall betterment . The forum also received a presentation from the African Medical Center of Excellence, a world-class hospital funded by the African Bank, which will partner with King’s College Hospital London to provide specialized medical care.
