Protesters Who Invaded Kano Court Carted Away Documents for Ganduje’s Ongoing Corruption Trial — Kano Government

The Kano State government has revealed that the recent invasion of the State High Court by protesters resulted in the theft of documents related to the corruption trial of former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

The court, which was vandalized and looted during the #EndBadGovernance protest, is where Ganduje and eight others are facing charges of misappropriation and diversion of funds.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf while visiting the court to assess the damage, described the incident as a “staged-managed mission” aimed at disrupting the corruption trial.

“It is very unfortunate that enemies of Kano State hired undesirable elements to vandalize one of the historic public buildings with a mission of averting corruption charges against the Ag. National Chairman of APC and former governor of the state Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, his family and aides,” said Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor’s spokesperson.

The vandalism resulted in the destruction of virtually all units of the High Court, including the office of the state Chief Judge, with losses estimated at over N1 billion. The miscreants stole office equipment, destroyed offices, burned cars, and took other materials crucial to the dispensation of justice.

Governor Yusuf urged the youth to refrain from being used by detractors to engage in violence and instead focus on acquiring skills for a better future. He commiserated with the Chief Judge, Dije Abdu Aboki, and the entire Judiciary family, urging them to continue with court proceedings for the benefit of the common man.

The governor also commended the people of Kano for their support and cooperation, praying for continued peace, stability, and economic development. He assured that the government would not relent in securing the lives and property of the people of Kano.
