Idoma Association USA Decries Incessant Killings in Benue State, Calls for Investment in Youth

The Idoma Association USA, a socio-cultural group of Benue South Idoma natives, has condemned the persistent killings in their ancestral communities in Benue State, Nigeria. The group’s President, Dr. Edwin Ochai, made this statement during their 28th annual convention in New Jersey.

Ochai expressed concern about the impact of insecurity on the community’s development, emphasizing the need for a secure environment to attract investment and drive economic growth. He urged Idoma natives living abroad to invest in youth back home, providing opportunities for education, employment, and personal growth.

The Och’Idoma of Idoma, Elaigwu Odogbo, commended the association for promoting Idoma cultural identity and traditions. He decried the renewed attacks on the Idoma kingdom, resulting in hundreds of deaths and displacement of thousands.

Deputy Governor of Benue State, Dr. Sam Odeh, reassured the association that the state government has not neglected the Benue South Senatorial District, addressing concerns about project distribution.

The convention highlighted the need for collective action to address insecurity and promote economic growth in Idoma land.
