Ahead of the September 21 Edo State governorship election, Senator Neda Imasuen, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct and Public Petitions, has predicted a shocking outcome for the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC). Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Senator Imasuen boasted that while the PDP’s Dr. Asue Ighodalo and the APC’s Senator Monday Okpebholo rely on state and federal power, respectively, the Labour Party’s Olumide Akpata, SAN, has the support of the electorate, which will lead to a surprising victory.
According to Senator Imasuen, the Labour Party’s candidate has the backing of the people, which will prove decisive in the election. This statement comes as the campaign season heats up in Edo State, with the major parties intensifying their efforts to win the governorship seat.
The election is expected to be a closely contested one, with the Labour Party aiming to upset the dominance of the PDP and APC in the state.
