Peter Obi’s Visit to Labour Party HQ Was to Seek Reconciliation, Not to Endorse Abure’s NWC — POMR

Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, had visited the Labour Party headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday with many opining that it is an endorsement of the Julius Abure-led leadership of National Working Committee.

But a statement by Dr. Yunusa Tanko, Spokesman for the Peter Obi Media and Resource Centre (POMR), says the visit was a reconciliatory move aimed at uniting the party, rather than endorsing any particular group’s interest.

Obi has consistently maintained that his goal is to bring all party members together as one strong family, and his visit to the party headquarters was part of ongoing consultations to achieve this aim.

In a related development, Obi also met with the political arm of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) on Wednesday, where he reiterated the need for peace and unity within the party.

The leadership of the NLC/TUC political commission, led by Comrades Titus Amba and Chris Uyot, expressed their support for peace and reconciliation within the party.

Obi thanked the leadership for their understanding and expressed hope for a good working relationship in the near future.

The Labour Party standard bearer also plans to meet with other critical stakeholders, including the Obidient group, to build an all-inclusive political family with a shared dream of rescuing Nigeria.
