In a swift response to the disrespectful act of Hon Philip Agbese, the House of Representatives Member representing Ado, Okpokwu, and Ogbadibo federal constituency, the youths of MINDA have demanded an immediate apology. Agbese removed the portrait of Governor Rev. Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia from his office and used derogatory language to describe him, which the youths find unwarranted and undeserving.
While it is Agbese’s prerogative to use his office as he pleases, the denigration of a respected leader like Governor Alia has compelled the MINDA youths to caution and urge Agbese to retract his words and apologize if he wishes to maintain any semblance of leadership.
The MINDA youths emphasize that Agbese’s remarks do not reflect the sentiment of the people of Benue State. They express their pride in Governor Alia’s leadership, which has prioritized genuine service to the masses over the interests of a privileged few. MINDA youths have become politically aware and will not hesitate to take action against those who shortchange the people’s mandate.
In support of Governor Alia, the MINDA youths affirm their unwavering loyalty, highlighting his transformative governance in just a few months. The governor’s commitment to prompt salary payments, pensions, and gratuities, along with extensive infrastructure development, has endeared him to the people of Benue State. The MINDA youths condemn any attempt by Agbese to distract the governor from his progress.
Agbese’s background in civil society seemed to have neglected the importance of order and decency, leading to his escapade. The MINDA youths question his motives for such behavior, suggesting that he could have sought attention from show business personalities rather than targeting a revered gentleman like Governor Alia. This action is at odds with the promises Agbese made to his constituents during election campaigns, leading to disappointment among them.
The MINDA youths urge Philip Agbese to demonstrate honor and wisdom by promptly retracting his uncivilized actions and offering a sincere apology. Failure to do so will result in his exclusion from organizing or participating in any political event within the Gwer and Lobi regions, including the local governments of Makurdi, Gwer-East, Gwer-West, and Guma.
