Osun State Governor Approves Wage Awards to Mitigate Impact of Subsidy Removal

In a bid to alleviate the impact of subsidy removal, the Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has given his approval for the payment of wage awards to civil servants and pensioners in the state.

Governor Adeleke reiterated his commitment to workers’ welfare and his promise to gradually introduce palliative measures to cushion the effect of subsidy removal. He mentioned that this wage award is part of his five-point agenda, with workers’ welfare being the top priority.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Capacity Building issued a circular to convey the Governor’s approval, stating that civil servants will receive a wage award of N15,000, while pensioners will be granted N10,000. The wage award will be effective for a period of six months, starting from December.

This move by Governor Adeleke is aimed at easing the financial burden on workers and pensioners affected by the recent subsidy removal.
