In what could be termed a rare occurence, 2.2 million Litres of Red wine overflowed through a Portuguese village after two trucks accidentally spilled the liquid.

The video of the spillage which surfaced online showed volumes of liquid red wine flowing through the street of a small village in Portugal.

Daily Mail reports that two trucks belonging to Levira Distillery had on Sunday accidentally spilled over 2.2 million litres of red wine trucks in São Lourenco do Bairro, Portugal.

The wine spill was so pronounced that local officials in the area triggered an environmental alert, forcing them to divert the wine to stop it contaminating the nearby Certima River.

The flood was blocked off by the Anadia Fire Department who diverted it away from the river, to allow it spill harmlessly into a field.

The distillery apologised for damages the spillage might have caused.
